Vinyl Sign Banner – Do Discount Banners Mean They Are Made Cheap?
Not too long ago if you wanted an custom vinyl sign banner it was almost always an applied vinyl banner. This simply means that there is not an actual print on the banner but an adhesive backed vinyl that is appled to a blank banner. The method is to have a computer run plotter cut out the lettering and then apply the lettering to the vinyl banner. This method is still used quite a bit and has its advantages.
A digital print is just what it sounds like. The banner material is actually fed through a large format printer and the image is then printed onto the vinyl material. This continues to grow in popularity and I would estimate that 90% of the custom vinyl banners we produce are now digital prints whereas 3 years ago 90% were applied vinyl.
So, which method should you chose? It depends on your use of the banner. From experience I would say any indoor sign banner should be digitally printed. If your banner is going outdoors then it is best to use a applied vinyl banner if the background is going to be a solid color and there is just simple text on the banner. In my opinion this just looks better for simple text. Of course, if you are going to add a logo, fades, shadows, photographs, or any other full color image, then you will need to get a digitally printed vinyl banner. |
